Improving your overall health and self-image is often easily achieved by developing a few new habits, write Tracy Davidson and Melissa Jacobs for Main Line Today.

Jen Croneberger, a Chester Springs-based motivational speaker and business consultant, suggests writing one’s own story. She explained that positivity is not just a mindset, but requires practice.

“Make a list of all of your strengths,” she said. “Write down 10 things in one minute.”

Lynn Feinman, a Paoli-based doctor of naturopathy, emphasized the importance of balancing your hormones.

According to Feinman, women’s bodies start changing around 15 years before menopause.

“How we rebalance our hormones, starting at age 35, determines how we age, our longevity, and overall health quotient,” she said.

She recommended women increase their intake of hormone-balancing foods, as well as use supplements.

Good sleep is just as important for overall health, argued Dr. Rochelle Goldberg, medical director for the Paoli Sleep Center and director of sleep medicine services for Main Line Health.

She explained that good sleep hygiene begins hours before bed, including no naps and limited caffeine.

“Create a bedtime routine to tell your brain that it’s time for sleep,” she said.
