Home of the Sparrow – the Exton-based nonprofit that partners with women facing homelessness to secure housing, achieve long-term stability, and chart new paths for their futures – will host its 21st Annual Power of the Purse Fashion Show on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at The Desmond.

This unique fundraiser promotes the power women can evoke to support other women who are not as fortunate. The event features a runway show with volunteer models, two hours of boutique shopping (with the business owners donating part of their proceeds), unique items for raffle and auction, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, and a fabulous dinner.

The emcee is once again Jayne Brown, the popular QVC host. Some of the boutiques and vendors include:

  • Adler Grier
  • Jane Chalfant
  • Chico’s
  • Gingy’s
  • Silver Linings
  • Threads Marketplace
  • Van Cleve Bridal & Evening Wear
  • Englund’s Apparel for Men

A highlight of the event is The Power of the Purse Raffle, featuring a Dooney & Bourke satchel with two tickets to a performance of the Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen at the Forrest Theatre in Philadelphia and a $200 Visa gift card.

For a quarter of a century, Home of the Sparrow has served as a regional leader in the provision of unique and successful housing programs and supportive services to prevent women and children from experiencing homelessness in Chester County.

All proceeds from The Power of the Purse support women and children facing or experiencing homelessness in our community to build better futures for themselves and their children.
