Karen Wertz

The Church Farm School – a boarding and day school in Exton for boys in grades 9-12 – has hired Karen Wertz as its Director of Finance and Operations.

Wertz, the former Finance Director for Easttown Township, succeeds longtime administrator Neil Fanelli, who is retiring in August after nearly 35 years with the school.

Wertz brings more than 25 years of finance, audit, and accounting oversight experience to CFS, primarily in the pharmaceutical and municipal government arenas. She will lead all facets of financial oversight for the school, including operating and capital budgets, financial audits, key service contracts, and implementation and oversight of financial systems and controls.

A graduate of Shippensburg University, Wertz also holds an MBA from Penn State and has been an actively licensed CPA since 1997. She lives with her husband and two high school-aged daughters in Chester County.

“I am honored to have been chosen as the school’s next Director of Finance and Operations, and I look forward to becoming actively involved with the students, faculty, and leadership team of the Church Farm School,” Wertz said.

“We are excited to have Karen on board as we begin our 101st year of service to young men from a variety of backgrounds, for which a Church Farm School education represents an incredible opportunity,” said The Rev. Edmund K. Sherrill II, CFS’s Head of School. “We are also extremely thankful to Neil Fanelli for his long tenure with the school and his vast contributions over nearly four decades.”
