A thrilling season of music, dance, distinguished speakers, and family entertainment is planned for West Chester University’s 25th anniversary season of WCU Live!, a performing arts series programmed with the community in mind.

Featuring the best of touring, international artists, 10 events are planned from October 2019 through April 2020.

“We invite all members of our surrounding community to come onto West Chester’s campus to experience the arts with us,” said John Rhein, WCU’s Director of Cultural and Community Affairs. “The quality onstage rivals that of anything in Philadelphia or New York, and tickets cost a fraction of what you’d pay in those cities. Plus, our state-of-the-art venues are both intimate and comfortable.”

This fall, Broadway Rox comes to West Chester on Oct. 5 with an upbeat live concert that celebrates the contemporary musicals of Broadway. A week later, National Public Radio’s Nina Totenberg shares her seasoned reflections on America’s top legal issues as part of the President’s Speaker Series. On Oct. 18, Masters of Soul will take you on a stroll down memory lane by performing the legendary songs that defined Motown and soul music.

Nov. 2 brings Jason Bishop, the virtuoso magician whose stunning magic is delivered with a modern twist. Nobuntu, the internationally acclaimed female a cappella quintet from Zimbabwe, comes to town on Nov. 16.

In the spring, Flamenco Vivo, the show heralded by The New York Times as having “bursts of brilliance,” takes the stage on Feb. 7. Missoula Children’s Theatre Company returns to West Chester for the 13th year. It will once again recruit 50 local children to stage an original musical adaptation of The Emperor’s New Clothes on March 14.

An audience favorite is the annual show featuring trained rescue dogs. This season, Johnny Peers & The Muttville Comix comes to West Chester on March 21. Tamagawa University Taiko Drumming and Dance Troupe thunders into West Chester on March 29.

Finally, the beloved Henry Winkler comes to campus as part of the President’s Speaker Series on April 25. He will share humorous anecdotes and inspirational life lessons from his storied career in entertainment.
