Kennett Square’s South Mill Champs Introduces Coffee, Tea Made of Mushrooms

Kennett Square mushroom purveyor South Mill Champs has expanded its Shrooms Snacks brand to include tea and coffee, writes Amy Sowder for The Packer.

The new additions to the Shrooms Snacks lineup were introduced at a private reception in New York by David Eberwein, director of innovation and business development, and Chip Chalupa, director of food science and research and development.

Shrooms Cold Brew Mushroom Coffee will be available in three ready-to-drink varieties. Each of them will have smooth Arabica coffee brewed with superfood mushrooms with different health benefits and functions.

Shrooms Cold Brew Mushroom Tea will also have three varieties brewed with different superfood mushrooms.

“2019 is the year of the functional mushroom,” said Chalupa. “Let’s hope it extends beyond its peak.”

The new products could be available nationwide as soon as late August.
