The hot buzzword in the health and wellness industry right now is intermittent fasting. While IF has gained considerable attention from the press and the scientific community it is a practice that has been around for many years.
And in fact, almost all religions practice some sort of fasting. Intermittent fasting refers to a lifestyle pattern that cycles between periods of fasting and eating. Now, I know you are thinking, “I love food”. Well, I do as well. But what I found is that this practice when supported with the right holistic ingredients can be a great break for your body.
I was introduced to the idea several years ago and I was pleasantly surprised by how amazing I felt during and after-hello mental clarity. My goal was to shed a few inches off my waist but to also hit the reset button on my health. I fully support this process.
If you want to experiment with Intermittent Fasting here are a few different options for you.
- Time Restriction: The 16 hour/8 hour method is the most popular. You eat for 8 hours of the day and restrict foods during the other 16.
- Whole Day Fast: Just as the name suggests, abstaining from food for 24 hours.
- Cleanse Day: This is the program I follow and it incorporates several phytonutrients that support the detoxification process.
Research shows that regular intermittent fasting supports metabolic, heart, immune, brain health among other things.
Whatever style you choose, I hope you find it enhances your overall health and weight management goals!
