For just the second time in school history, the West Chester University women’s gymnastics team qualified for the USA Gymnastics Women’s Collegiate National Championships, which will be held from April 12-14 at the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut.

“I was so proud of our team and the fight they put in all year long to qualify to this National Championship for the second time in my coaching career,” said coach Barbara Cordova. “I am excited to see that same grit as we compete next week.”

The USA Gymnastics Women’s Collegiate National Championships will take place inside the Wheeler Recreation Center. WCU qualified as a team for the first time since 2017 and the second time in the last three years.

West Chester was the eighth and final seed into nationals, edging Brown University on the final weekend of the regular season. Lindenwood (Mo.) is the top seed, followed by University of Illinois-Chicago, host Bridgeport, and Yale. Air Force is seeded fifth, Texas Women’s University is sixth, and Cornell is seventh.

The Golden Rams will compete in Session One, which is set to start at 2 PM on Friday. The team championship finals will commence at 7 PM on Saturday. Individual event finals will take place on Sunday afternoon at 1 PM.
