The Brandywine Health Foundation recently distributed 30 grants totaling $834,000, bringing the Foundation’s total giving since it began awarding grants and scholarships in 2002 to more than $17.5 million.

“Our nonprofit partners bring much-needed services and programs to our residents struggling to make it daily, and we are pleased to support their efforts,” said Vanessa Briggs, the BHF’s President and CEO. “The Foundation strives to fund organizations that positively influence the health and well-being of the individuals in the Greater Coatesville community. As community health increasingly becomes more complex, the Foundation will take a coordinated and holistic approach to health as we look to build our next chapter.”

The Foundation’s grantmaking committee – led by Margaret Rivello, vice chair of the Brandywine Health Foundation – carefully reviewed nearly 50 grant proposals that led to the Foundation’s Board of Directors unanimous approval of each of the community grants below.

Priority 1 – Health Equity: Ensure that every resident of the Greater Coatesville community has the opportunity to make choices that will allow them to live a long and healthy life, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, disability, income, or background.

• Chester County Health Department Nurse-Family Partnership ($15,000)
• Child Guidance Resource Centers ($70,000)
• Coatesville Center for Community Health ($12,000)
• Community Volunteers in Medicine ($10,000)
• Family Service of Chester County ($19,000)

• Maternal and Child Health Consortium ($45,000)
• Pennsylvania Health Access Network ($5,000)
• Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania’s Coatesville Health Center ($45,000)
• Public Citizens for Children and Youth (PCCY) ($5,000)
• Volunteer English Program in Chester County ($7,000)

Priority 2 – Healthy Youth: Empower youth aged 12-24 in the community to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle, cultivate leadership skills and experience, and achieve their goals for the future.
