Two Phoenixville establishments are among the 50 Best Bars in Philadelphia, write Alex Tewfik and Jason Sheehan for Philadelphia magazine.

The list looks at bars that are ending the era of the stuffy bar by ushering in a return to easier, breezier, and overall more enjoyable spots. The bars are grouped by descriptively named categories, including Cocktail Bars, Where the Neighbors Go, Not Just Drinking, Restaurant Bars, Dives and Taverns, At the Source, Sports Bars, and Whiskey Joints.

Pickering Creek Inn made an appearance in the Where the Neighbors Go category. Located at 37 East Bridge Street, Pickering Creek Inn offers great craft beer, live music, tasty wings, and a happy hour with half-price drafts.

Root Down Brewing Company found its place in the At the Source category. Located at 1 North Main Street, it offers a psychedelic vibe combined with a straightforward menu and brews made right on the spot. Among the beers available are house sours on tap and plenty of to-go choices.
