CBS3 Video Gushes About Chester County, Brandywine Region’s Spirit

By

Andrew Stewart, Director of Marketing & Communications at the Brandywine River Museum of Art, gives CBS3 a rare look inside Andrew Wyeth's Chadds Ford studio.

With smaller towns, historic sites, famous artwork, and a gorgeous river linking it all together, the Brandywine Valley encapsulates the spirit of the whole region, writes Jessica Dean for CBS Philly.

The Brandywine Valley rolls through parts of Chester and Delaware counties and prides itself on preserving history. One of the best examples is the Brandywine Battlefield Historic Site.

“You come here, you get a good sense of the heritage of the founding of this country,” said Andrew Outten of the Brandywine Battlefield Park. “Like General Washington, the Marquis de Lafayette, this was his first engagement of the American Revolution.”

The area also has stunning landscapes to get lost in, such as the renowned Longwood Gardens.

Meanwhile, art lovers can enjoy the many museums and exhibitions, including the Brandywine River Museum of Art, which features works from three generations of the Wyeth family. Andrew Wyeth’s studio is also close by.

“So you can see the paintings at the museum and extend your visit and really see where he painted,” said Andrew Stewart of the Brandywine River Museum of Art.
