Chester County came out on the top in Pennsylvania among places where people get some of the highest tax refunds, according to a new report by SmartAsset.
To determine the counties with the highest average refunds, the study divided the amount refunded in each county by the number of refunds given out in that county.
In Chester County, 181,740 taxpayers received refunds. They got an average of $3,348. This gave Chester County the highest “Receive the Most” index of 28.07. Nationwide, Chester County ranked at No. 323.
Meanwhile, 65,040 taxpayers across the county owe an average of $10,331 in tax. This puts Chester County’s “Owe the Most” index at 33.65, also the highest in the state. It ranked No. 72 in the country.
