Bob Madonna, Surrey’s President and CEO, accepted the award at the chamber’s Celebration of Business Leadership Luncheon held recently at The Desmond Hotel in Malvern.
“We are so honored to receive this award,” said Madonna. “Although Surrey is more than 37 years old, many people are unaware of the breadth of services Surrey offers for older adults, including classes, home-care services, transportation, meals, and programs.
“As people age, Surrey is there for them every step along the journey. I encourage anyone who reads about this award to stop in and see all that we have to offer.”

Surrey is a unique organization because its programs and services address the needs of seniors at every point of the aging continuum. For active older adults, it offers center-based classes and activities. For seniors who benefit from additional help, it offers many different types of in-home services. Surrey also provides peace of mind for distant and local family members by offering services that can help ensure a senior is safe and engaged.

- 29,000 nutritious meals at Surrey sites, an increase of 26 percent in three years
- 48,000 home-delivered meals in partnership with Main Line Meals on Wheels, an increase of 45 percent in three years
- 71,000 hours of in-home services, an increase of 11 percent in three years
In October 2017, Surrey was named Senior Center of the Year by the Pennsylvania Association of Senior Centers. Also, Surrey’s centers are accredited by the National Institute of Senior Centers (NISC) in Washington, D.C. Only 200 out of nearly 11,000 senior centers nationwide receive such an accreditation.
