Kids “4” Kids

Members of Peirce Middle School’s Kids “4” Kids, a service club, recently held their fifth annual yard sale, raising nearly $3,500 for five different nonprofits.

The yard sale brought out several shoppers looking to score a deal and also support a great cause. Children were also treated to a bounce house and bake sale during the event.

The funds raised will be donated to five charities chosen by the students: Best Buddies, the Friends Association for the Care and Protection of Children, The Dax Locke Foundation, BBS Research, and Family Lives On.

Since its founding in 2013, Kids “4” Kids has raised close to $10,000 for nonprofits that help children.

East Marlborough Township

A PennDOT Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside grant has been awarded to the township to improve pedestrian safety on Route 82 near Unionville High School and Patton Middle School. The $750,000 grant will cover the construction costs for sidewalks, crosswalks, medians, and roadway narrowing.

“Improving the pedestrian crossing at the schools has been a long-term goal of East Marlborough Township, and we are confident that this project will achieve that goal,” said Buzz Hannum, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors. “The road narrowing will help calm traffic, and the sidewalk extension will improve pedestrian access from the school campus into the historic Village of Unionville and the Unionville Community Park.”

The township is partnering with the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District to complete the project.
