Michael Rubin, owner of the Conshohocken-based sports merchandise company Fanatics, is reportedly on the list of bidders for the Carolina Panthers, according to reports.

The internet entrepreneur is said to be “very interested in owning the hometown NFL franchise,  sources told CNBC. Rubin, who has an estimated net worth of $3 billion, also owns minority stakes in the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers and the NHL’s New Jersey Devils. ESPN reports it reached Rubin, who declined to comment, writes Jen Wilson in the Charlotte Business Journal.

As per NFL rules, Rubin would have to sell his stake in the 76ers and Devils if he were to buy the Panthers.

The Charlotte Observer, also citing unnamed sources, notes he could be among the few possibly viable buyers for the team, which founder Jerry Richardson said will be sold during the offseason. Previous reports have indicated that while a number of names have been floated as interested buyers, few are believed to have the financial wherewithal to meet the NFL’s requirements.
