Ann Carozza, a West Chester East High School alum, has wrapped up a memorable collegiate career at West Chester University by winning her second national championship, writes Bruce Adams for The Daily Local News

Carozza won the women’s 200 fly along with several All-American honors — including nine in individual events, 10 in relays — at the 2023 NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships in Indianapolis. She placed first in the 200 fly for the second consecutive year with a time of 1:57.73.

“Ann was sick earlier in the week — she wasn’t eating and her energy was low,” said West Chester University swimming head coach Steve Mazurek. “None of that mattered, though. That race was won on the strength of her stroke and the work she’s amassed.”

As she moves on, Carozza will cherish her time swimming for the Rams

“Swimming for West Chester and Steve Mazurek has been the best experience of my life over the past five years,” said Carozza. “I have learned so much about hard work, leadership, how to come back from adversity and to never give up.”
