Delaware County Community College

Are you interested in a career in hospitality or culinary arts? Then don’t miss your chance to get a flavor for both fields at the college’s Culinary and Hospitality Career Night on Wednesday, April 11 from 5-6:30 PM.

The event is free and open to the public and will be held in the STEM Center on the Marple Campus, located at 901 South Media Line Road in Media.

Qualified culinary and hospitality workers are in high demand by regional employers. Prospective and current students can use this opportunity to network with employers seeking to fill positions covering both the front and back of the house.

Participating employers include Wawa, Wegmans, Embassy Suites by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn (Exton/West Chester), and Springfield Country Club. Click here to register to attend Culinary and Hospitality Career Night or call 610-723-4000.

Immaculata University

The university will be collaborating with The Crime Victims’ Center of Chester County (CVC) as part of the 2018 “It’s on Us PA” grant program, which focuses on combating sexual violence on college campuses.

Immaculata was recently awarded a grant under the “It’s on Us PA” program and will use the funding to expand sexual violence resources and education on its campus with CVC’s direction on policy review, training, awareness, and prevention strategies.

“Immaculata University is thankful to the state of Pennsylvania for providing funds that will allow us to continue the dialogue with students about sexual assault,” said Patricia Canterino, vice president for Student Development and Engagement. “The ‘It’s on Us’ program will help students understand what constitutes sexual assault and to help them identify potentially dangerous situations.”

Chester County’s Department of Emergency Services

With citizen safety as a major priority, the Chester County Commissioners were recently briefed on the county’s new link with FirstNet, a lifesaving communications platform built specifically for first responders.

Bobby Kagel, Director of the Department of Emergency Services, said that – as the first county in Pennsylvania to subscribe – Chester County’s police, fire, and EMS responders will more quickly and easily connect to the critical information they need, even during times of major regional events when mobile networks are congested.

Built with AT&T in partnership with the First Responder Network Authority, FirstNet gives communications capabilities a major boost, providing a reliable, highly secure, and “always on” communication.

“FirstNet will help facilitate greater coordination and collaboration from dispatch to the actual incident scene and beyond, allowing us to better serve the community,” said Michelle Kichline, Chair of the Commissioners.
