Gawthrop Greenwood

Meghna Reddy has joined Gawthrop Greenwood, a full-service law firm with offices in West Chester and Wilmington, as an associate attorney.

A recent graduate of Villanova’s law school, Reddy – who was born in Muscat, Oman – worked with the Interdisciplinary Mental and Physical Health Law Clinic at Villanova, where she successfully represented clients in Supplemental Security Income cases and assisted those with mental impairments in acquiring additional medical assistance.

While working toward her law degree, Reddy – who moved from the Middle East to Hershey when she was 15 – served at the Office of the District Attorney in Harrisburg, the Office of the Attorney General in Washington, D.C., as well as the Red Cross, where she specialized in International Humanitarian Law.

C. Allen Butler

C. Allen Butler, the President and CEO of Exton-based Daniel H. Wagner Associates, is among the leaders in industry and academia from around the world who will be joining the INFORMS Board of Directors in 2018.

Butler will serve as the Vice President, Practice, of INFORMS (Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences). INFORMS is the largest international association of operations research and analytics professionals and students.

The mission of Daniel H. Wagner Associates is to find the optimum solution to operational problems through the use of sophisticated mathematical algorithms and advanced programming techniques.

Penn State Great Valley

Cybersecurity jobs are in high demand, and PSGV’s new Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) exam preparation course can help experienced IT professionals move up the career ladder and achieve their professional goals.

A highly regarded and sought-after endorsement, the CISSP credential demonstrates deep technical knowledge and experience to effectively design, engineer, and manage the overall security posture of an organization — something needed by many governments and organizations around the world.

Launched last spring, the course uses (ISC2) materials to examine the eight domains of information security knowledge required to pass the exam. For many, the exam seems daunting, but Angel Kern, the course’s instructor, uses class discussion and practice tests to help students feel comfortable and prepared.

Valley Forge Educational Services

VFES in Malvern will host a community resource fair, a free event, on Thursday, Oct. 19 from 6:30-8:30 PM to connect youth and adults with disabilities, and their families, to supports and services that will help them reach their goals for independence in their home communities.

Forty-seven agencies and organizations will share information about educational opportunities, employment services, vocational day programs, residential programs, government programs, benefit counseling, advocacy, special needs financial planning, and recreation and leisure opportunities.

Chadds Ford Historical Society

The CFHS will host the food-centric Tavern Talks: Feast Mode! on Thursday, Nov. 9 from 7-9 PM at its Barns-Brinton House. Become a historical foodie, and delight in the delicacies of 18th-century cooking through several interactive stations. Learn about tavern fare with historian Susan Plaisted and cheer on television host, podcaster, and competitive eater Monty “Moe Train” Wiradilaga as he does the “Colonial Food Tasting Challenge.”

Tavern Talks is a monthly experience aimed exclusively for adults 21 and older that focuses on unexplored aspects of early American history and culture. Guests will experience history with hands-on activities, food and drink tastings, demonstrations, and more.

Coatesville Youth Initiative

Join the nonprofit CYI for a Breakthrough Leader Breakfast – featuring Dr. Helen Richardson, the Founder and CEO of Career Consciousness – on Friday, Nov. 3 from 8-10 AM at The Desmond Hotel in Malvern.

Dr. Richardson will present “A New Way to Think About Work,” a holistic approach to realizing happiness, health, and satisfaction in the workplace. She will challenge conventional thinking and help leaders appreciate how to accommodate the needs of multiple generations and the diversity of cultures in the workplace.

West Chester University

WCU invites members of the community to attend two briefing sessions that will detail the university’s future plans, including proposed construction projects, on Monday, Oct. 30, as well as Friday, Nov. 3, at 6 PM in Philips Autograph Library on the second floor of Philips Memorial Building, located at 700 South High Street.

The university will host two sessions to provide a better opportunity for all interested to hear and discuss WCU’s upcoming plans; the same information will be presented at both sessions. RSVPs are not required to attend. Free parking will be available in Lot G.

Chester County Democratic Women’s Leadership Initiative

The CCDWLI will welcome Dr. Jill Biden, the former Second Lady, to Chester County for its Fall Gala from 4-7:30 PM on Sunday, Oct. 15. at the Mendenhall Inn.

The CCDWLI was formed in 2015 to bring the issues that concern women and working families to the forefront of the political process.

“Dr. Biden is not just an icon in her commitment to strengthen the middle class and her advocacy for women and children, she epitomizes the ideas on which this organization was founded,” said Michele Vaughn, CCDWLI Chair and Co-Founder. “With the February 2017 launch of the Biden Foundation, Dr. Biden and her husband will continue their commitment to strengthening the middle class, protecting women and children against violence, and supporting community colleges and military families.”
