The Chester County Historical Society has elected a new slate of officers to its Board of Trustees.

Jim Sargent, a partner and chairman of Lamb McErlane’s Appellate and Advisory Group and Litigation Department, has been elected to serve as Board chair.

“I am honored to serve as chair of the Board of Trustees at such a culturally important and distinguished anchor institution as Chester County Historical Society,” he said. “I look forward to working with a group of dedicated Board members and our energetic leadership team – including CCHS’s president Elizabeth Laurent, curator and director of collections Ellen Endslow, and development director Sylvia Bastani – as we advance our plans for opening our new permanent exhibit and celebrate the society’s 125th anniversary in 2018.”

Charlie White, the director of customer systems and support at PECO Energy, will continue to serve in his role as the Board’s vice chair.

Bill Ronayne, founder and president of Brandywine Valley HVAC, will assume the role of treasurer.

Michelle Kichline, chair of the Chester County Board of County Commissioners, has been elected to serve as Board secretary.

Departing as the society’s Board chair is George Zumbano, a partner at Gawthrop Greenwood, who was recognized for his many years of service on the society’s Board.

“Jim, Charlie, Bill, and Michelle are a great team and will move CCHS to higher achievement as we all work together and do our part for the good of the society and our community,” said Zumbano.

“We are particularly pleased with our new Board officers and delighted to have their talents and expertise,” said CCHS president Elizabeth Laurent. “We are deeply grateful to Mr. Zumbano for his many years of service to the society, as well as to Francis “Fran” Jacobs II and George Werner for their service as Board officers.”
