The national small business movement Independent We Stand has announced the 25 quarterfinalists in the 2017 “America’s Main Streets” contest, and one is Downtown Oxford.

As the lifeblood of our cities and towns, main streets play an important role in the long-term success of communities and help build a sense of place. Independent We Stand invites the public to vote for their favorite quarterfinalist and move a deserving Main Street one step closer to the grand prize of $25,000.

Downtown Oxford is the town center for a vibrant rural community, and boasts boutique shops, fun restaurants, and entertainment.

“There has been an incredible outpouring of love for hundreds of Main Streets and Main Street organizations across the country in this year’s ‘America’s Main Streets’ contest, and we couldn’t be more excited,” said Independent We Stand co-founder Bill Brunelle.

“We are in our second year of the contest, and are so happy to see the passion and pride these nominees have for their Main Streets and the local businesses that keep them alive. Now, it’s time for consumers to show their support and vote again for these amazing quarterfinalists.”

More than 156,000 votes were cast for 242 nominees during the nominations phase. Now, only 25 quarterfinalists remain.
