Although the weather would suggest otherwise, spring is officially here.

As such, preparations are being made for the Brandywine Health Foundation’s 16th Annual Garden Party and ensuing Strawberry Festival, fundraisers that benefit the Coatesville community in a variety of ways.

On Wednesday, May 23, presenting sponsors PECO and KeyBank will join with Chester County philanthropists Jennifer and Robert McNeil to once again welcome more than 500 people to the McNeil’s Springbank Farm in Coatesville for the Garden Party.

The theme for this year’s event is “An Evening in the French Quarter” as guests will experience the Creole and Cajun influences of French Quarter cuisine, while delighting in the distinctive sounds of New Orleans Jazz.

Most regard the Garden Party as the social event of the year in Chester County, and it benefits the Brandywine Health Foundation, which annually distributes millions of dollars in grants and scholarships to the Coatesville community.

Specifically, funds raised from the event help the Foundation build community partnerships and launch programs and initiatives focused on health equity, healthy youth, and healthy community.

One of the highlights of the Garden Party is the Battle of the Berries, in which guests indulge in spectacular, berry-themed desserts from local restaurants.

The desserts are graded on taste, presentation, creativity, and use of berries by a panel of judges, while guests get to vote for their preference, too.

The Garden Party also kicks off the Foundation’s annual Strawberry Festival, a four-day celebration on the grounds of the Brandywine Hospital that begins on May 31.
