The Mother of All 5Ks race is just one reason why West Chester is considered one of the most exciting places in Pennsylvania.

There is no shortage of excitement in Pennsylvania, and Chester County seems to be at the center of it, writes Natalie Grigson for Movoto Real Estate.

The Top 10 Most-Exciting Places in Pennsylvania ranking, compiled by Movoto Real Estate, features West Chester and Phoenixville, both of which placed in the upper half of the list.

To determine the rankings, Movoto gathered a list of the Top 50 most-populous places in the state. It then used the 2010 Census and business listings to collect data based on several determining criteria.

Movoto then used metrics like nightlife per capita, live music venues per capita, and active life options per capita, which includes parks and outdoor activities and arts and entertainment.

Phoenixville ranked fifth thanks to its unique blend of suburbia and fiery festivals underscored by classic movies and excellent music scene.

West Chester came second on the list, just behind Pittsburgh, thanks to its status as one of the youngest and the second-most populous places in the state. It was also recognized for its numerous bars, restaurants, and other diverse outdoor and indoor activities.
