If you and your family are just half as crazy about pumpkins, hauntings, and overall mayhem as Delaware County is, you’ll want to check out Visit Delco, PA’s monster-sized guide to the Top 10, which is actually a Top 20 list of wickedly fun and unforgettable events happening from the Main Line to the Brandywine.

From a destination farm where thousands go, to a spine-tingling attraction with special effects worthy of a movie set, Delaware County loves its goblins, ghouls, ghost tours, bonfires, and hayrides. Here are five highlights:

• Delco’s famous Bates Motel & Haunted Hayride at Arasapha Farm in Glen Mills is not for the faint of heart. The attraction has been called one of the nation’s scariest places by the Travel Channel and USA Today. You’ll see levitating spirits, floor boards that come alive, pictures with eyes that follow you, and incredible, custom animatronic props that you won’t see anywhere else.
• Linvilla Orchards could be called the Emerald City of October – it’s not Munchkin Land; it’s Pumpkin Land! This renowned farm on the outskirts of Media draws thousands of families with mountains of pumpkins, huge storybook characters, and hayrides to the Witch’s House for tales and treats. There’s also live entertainment, fun with the farm animals, face painting, and more.
• The Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation at Ridley Creek State Park (c. 1720) is considered one of the area’s most haunted places and offers three days of sell-out Lantern Ghost Tours, plus a night of Ghost Hunting with real Ghost Hunters!
• There’s a Howl-O-Wine Costume Contest for Canines at the award-winning Penns Woods Winery in Chadds Ford …
• … and Delco’s county-seat town of Media hosts an Annual Halloween Parade that is weirdly fun, cool, and campy. Costumed participants march down State Street, which is lined with more than a dozen restaurants featuring global cuisines, as well as unique and charming independent retail stores. It’s also one of the rare suburban thoroughfares with trolley service.
