Municipal Traffic Engineer
This position reviews municipal subdivision and land development applications, traffic impact and circulation studies, and zoning ordinances. He/she attends municipal meetings and closely interacts with municipal staff, elected officials, and local citizens. The person engages in capital improvement planning, including cost estimates, feasibility studies, and developing recommendations and innovative solutions. He/she reviews the construction site to monitor progress and perform other duties.
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He/she will have three to five years of work experience. The person will have Engineer in Training certification. He/she will have knowledge of Microstation or AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.

Highway Design Specialist
This position develops, maintains, and monitors design schedules and budgets to keep projects on schedule and on budget. He/she assists with the preparation of proposals and represents TPD in meetings with clients, stakeholders, and/or the public. The person manages the preparation of pre-bid construction schedules and pre-bid construction cost estimates.
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He/she will have current E.I.T. certification or a Pennsylvania P.E. license. The person will be familiar with a broad array of traffic engineering aspects, including traffic studies, crash studies, traffic signal plans, signing and pavement marking plans, and traffic control plans.

Construction Inspectors/Managers
These positions inspect roadway and bridge products, test soils, concrete, and bituminous paving, calculate quantities for estimate payments, and review construction schedules. They maintain project records using PennDOT documentation procedures, and recommend changes to construction plans to meet field conditions and provide project cost savings.
Ideal candidates will possess a high school diploma and a minimum of two years of transportation construction inspection experience. They must be certified in at least one of the following: NICET, NECEPT Bituminous, ACI, PennDOT Concrete Technician, and CDS.
