Crowdfunding Cranks Up Success for Speaker Startup from West Chester

By

West Chester startup BumpOut just turned its ear to the savvy public for feedback on its concept of an expandable portable speaker, and crowdfunders cranked up the volume by providing BumpOut’s $50,000 goal in a mere four days.

The device that can attach directly to your phone for “powerful, high-quality audio and rich bass” is now in pre-order for $59, and has raised $60,000 and counting on Indiegogo. BumpOut is aiming for a May 2017 release, according to a Technical.ly Philly report by Roberto Torres.

“Hardware is hard, primarily because it is an expensive process with rather long lead times,” Founder and CEO Zac Pierce said. “In order to maintain a price point that is of great value for consumers, crowdfunding allows us to take pre-orders, which alleviates some of the financial burden, and deliver a high-quality product at an affordable price point.”

BumpOut is designed to be rechargeable and waterproof. Read more about it on Technical.ly Philly here.
