Premier Dark Rum Distilled in Phoenixville Scheduled for Sunday Release

By

Dark Rum enthusiasts should plan a trip to Phoenixville’s Bluebird Distilling for their Dark Rum Release and End of Summer Tiki Party scheduled for this Sunday, September 18 from 1pm – 6pm.

Billed as “One last party to end the summer,” the event promises to be a celebration of this tropical spirit.

“Our Dark Rum is distilled from sugarcane and molasses, poured into freshly emptied Bluebird Four Grain Bourbon, Rye and Wheat Whiskey barrels, and put to rest,” explains Bluebird’s Master Distiller Jared Adkins. “ The fresh, clean rum mixes with the dark sweet notes of the whiskey barrels, awakening beautiful notes of vanilla, brown sugar, toffee and dried fruits.”

Most notably, this is the first ever release of Dark Rum for the distillery, which has six other spirits in its repertoire.

There are 200 Bottles of the Dark Rum available, and the official release happens at 12:30pm, though the festivities kick-off at 1pm.  Activities include:  local food vendors featuring rum inspired foods, Uncle B’s BBQ serving their signature smoked meats, tiki themed one-day-only cocktails, Dark Rum cocktails, and live Steel Drum Caribbean music.

Homebrewers and aspiring distillers may be interested to know that Bluebird is also selling their freshly dumped 5 gallon Dark Rum Barrels on September 18 for $100 per barrel.  No tickets are necessary, just come out and enjoy a tropical party in the heart of Phoenixville.
