Good cheer and sunshine are blooming next to the Please Wash Me Carwash in Elverson, where a free pick-me-up is ripe for the picking.

Business owner Rick Frey is once again giving away sunflowers; no car wash necessary.

“Every year this is my gift to the community,” he said in a Daily Local News report by Carol Quaintance. “… With all the sad things in today’s world, I like to think of this plot of the good earth as a place where people can come for serenity and peace.”

What started as a marketing ploy to keep the Please Wash Me Carwash at the front of people’s minds when nearby cornfields obscured it from view has now become a memorable community ritual.

“It has taken on a life of its own,” Frey said.

“Photographers come, bridal parties come to get their wedding pictures taken there,” the article stated. “Some just want to bring cheer and happiness to a church picnic or a supper table.”

And many post their pictures on Please Wash Me Carwash’s Facebook page.
