Entrepreneurial Chester County teens have a unique chance to type their way into a national spotlight by creating the next great app.
U.S. Rep. Ryan Costello recently issued the Congressional App Challenge, and now the race is on for high school programmers to create an original game-changer by the Jan. 15 deadline for entries.
“In an effort to promote creativity and encourage students to hone their coding expertise, I have launched the Congressional App Challenge,” Costello said in a Chesco Times announcement. “It’s my hope that the contest will pose a fun challenge for students involved in STEM-based education and stay ahead of the evolving technology. Maybe we’ll see a PA-06 student create the next Instagram or Snapchat app that will take our culture by storm!”
Costello sits on the Congressional STEM and STEAM caucuses at the Capitol, and the contest is sponsored by the Internet Education Foundation. It will be judged on creativity, user experience and an understanding of coding and programming skills by a panel of judges.
District winners will jump onto the national tech scene and have their apps featured on a yearlong digital exhibit at the Capitol.
