On the heels of celebrating its 40th anniversary, a West Chester family business now headquartered in East Goshen has passed an economic growth test with flying colors.

The full-service communications engineering, repair and logistics company, Communications Test Design Inc., just unveiled plans for a new half-a-million-square-foot testing and warehouse facility in the Highlands Corporate Center, according to a Daily Local News report this week.

“CTDI is excited about the opportunity to build a new state-of-the-art, world-class technical service operation in Valley Township,” President and COO Leo Parsons said in the article. “This new facility will enable CTDI to compete and win in today’s competitive global marketplace.”

Employment plans for the new center call for 300 workers — half of them testing experts and technicians, more than a third in logistics and warehousing and the rest in management — with capacity to eventually double that number.

“CTDI is proud of our heritage as a Pennsylvania-based, family-owned global business with a 40-year history of growth and job creation within the state,” Chairman and CEO Jerry Parsons added.

The project announcement was heralded by state Secretary of Community and Economic Development Dennis Davin, Sen. Andy Dinniman and others.

“In my judgment, we are far better off investing in companies that are already here, especially family-owned companies, than we are in trying to attract companies from outside the area,” Dinniman said.
