Chester County Datebook – September 25th


September 25th is the 268th day of the year leaving just 97 days remaining until the end of the year.  On this day in 1981, Sandra Day O’Connor was sworn in as a justice in the Supreme Court of the United States, becoming the first woman to hold that office.

On Friday, Downingtown Borough and Downingtown business leaders provide an update on Downingtown’s redevelopment at Victory Brewing’s brewpub on Acorn Lane beginning at 9:00 AM.

This evening, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation hosts their annual Grapes & Grain Benefit at the Desmond Hotel in Malvern.

On Saturday, Technical College High School – Brandywine Campus hosts SkillsUSA Flapjack Fundraiser breakfast.

The County of Chester holds their annual Community Day at Warwick County Park from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM Saturday afternoon.

Also on Saturday, Penn Township and Jennersville Hospital host the 11th annual Health & Wellness Community Picnic from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Penn Township Park on Lewis Road in West Grove. The free event offers a BBQ lunch, Elvis impersonators and an appearance by the Eagles Cheerleaders.

Sunday, the 6th Annual Downingtown Fall Fest presented by Victory Brewing Company happens from Noon to 4pm. The event, sponsored by the Downingtown – Thorndale Regional Chamber of Commerce is expected to  bring thousands of visitors to Downingtown in search of great food, crafts, music and the famous Victory Brewing beer garden.
