Local teachers are using a new crowdfunding website to kickstart their classroom needs.

Y-Prime, Inc. of Malvern is influencing Downingtown’s future workforce with an internship program it conducts for students at the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) Academy in Downingtown.

The local leading supplier of eClinical solutions recently completed its second summer internship program for 8 high school students in the career pathways program at the Downingtown magnet school.

Filola Beitler, Y-Prime talent management manager, said she hopes some of the students will return to the area and work for Y-Prime after they finish college.

“It is a real joy to see the excitement and motivation from them as they learn about the industry and how we develop Y-Prime products,” Beitler said.

The interns worked in the quality assurance, talent management, marketing, customer care and research and development departments. They learned how the 8-year-old firm keeps its place as a leading company offering software and technology used in clinical research, healthcare and IT.

“Y-Prime helps open our students’ eyes to what these new technological businesses are like and teaches them skills needed to succeed in a corporate environment,” said Susan Boardman, internships and partnerships leader at STEM Academy. “Y-Prime is influencing the future workforce.”

“This experience solidified my interest in starting my own business someday,” said  STEM senior Mathi Tamilmani.
