Genesis HealthCare of Kennett Square announced two expansion efforts this month.
One of the nation’s largest skilled nursing providers, Genesis is now offering a driving rehabilitation service, and has also acquired Glenwood Healthcare, Inc., now called Glenwood Center. This is a 125-bed skilled nursing facility in Florence, Al.
The 5-star facility offers short-stay rehabilitation and long-term care. The purchase included two senior living buildings.
Local older drivers and family members concered about the safety of older drivers may now tap the services of Genesis Rehab Services to help older folks stay safe and confident in the driver’s seat as they experience age-related physical and mental changes.
So far, Genesis is making rehab specialists available in central and eastern Pennsylvania, along with New Jersey and Florida. The service includes driving wellness consultations, specialized in-vehicle evaluations, client education and support, and training and specialized adaptive driving equipment.
For those who need to cease driving either temporarily or permanently, Genesis helps with the transition from driver to passenger. Specialists work with licensed, older adult drivers with a wide range of medical conditions including dementia, heart attack, mild cognitive impairment, Parkinson’s disease, sleep apnea and traumatic brain injury.
