Wegmans Stores Offer Free Trail Passports And Lifeclinic 500 Stations

By

The local Wegmans stores in Malvern, Downingtown, Collegeville and King of Prussia are known for their large variety of fresh local and international food.

Recently Wegmans introduced two conveniences to help shoppers get and stay healthy while picking up their fruits and vegetables.

The stores are now offering Wegmans Passports to Family Wellness, pocket-sized guides to trails. Right now, the only local guide is to the Trexler Nature Preserve near the Lehigh Valley Zoo, but by the end of the year, Wegmans will have 30 different passports mapping recreational opportunities in New York, Maryland, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. Keep the free passports in mind if you plan to vacation in one of those states.

The Trexler Nature Preserve has a handicap accessible covered bridge trail and 26 miles of trails suitable for hiking, biking, horseback riding, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. In all, Wegmans plans to cover more than 150 hiking and biking trails with canoeing, kayaking and opportunities to view wildlife.

5.11.2014 Wegmans2Wegmans stores also have Lifeclinic 500 stations at their pharmacies for measuring blood pressure, pulse, weight and to calculate body mass index. The stations are free and private, and it only takes about a minute for a reading. You may store your personal statistics online, protected by a password. You may also print your record from home and bring the results to your family doctor.

“It makes record keeping so much easier,” said Katie Niles, a Wegmans pharmacist and clinical and wellness services coordinator. “You can also tell at a glance the meaning of your numbers – if you’re in a normal, healthy range, or if there’s something to discuss with your health provider.”

Wegmans reports customers are taking more than 100,000 blood pressure readings each month at the company’s 84 stores. More than 800 people each month create new accounts for their data. Employees also use the stations.

Wegmans Food Markets is a family-owned company founded in 1916. The industry innovator has been named one of the “100 best companies to work for” by FORTUNE Magazine for 17 consecutive years.
