Seawells in Parkesburg

This week I had breakfast at Seawell’s on First Avenue in Parkesburg. This was not my first breakfast here and I’m certain it won’t be my last. I try to eat there at least once a month.

I really like the breakfast sandwich, which you can get on toast, croissant, bagel or English muffin. I usually get the bagel but have also had the croissant. You can have a choice of meat and cheese with the egg or you can build it the way you like.

I didn’t get the sandwich on this visit, but my breakfast partner did and was very pleased.

I had oatmeal for the first time on this visit. It was very good. The serving is a nice size and includes brown sugar, raisins, honey, and milk. I try to eat oatmeal at least once a week and sometimes 2-3 times a week.

I will definitely get the oatmeal at Seawell’s again. I’ve had many different varieties over the years and the one being served at Seawell’s is right up there with the good ones. It could have been a “little” hotter for me, but that’s a small criticism.

Seawell’s offer a nice selection for lunch and dinner also at very reasonable prices. They also have some of the best hand-dipped ice cream around from Kreider’s of Lancaster County if you’re looking for a little snack.

Seawell’s is what I refer to as an “old school” place to eat in a small town. Many of my friends from Parkesburg often reminisce about the vanishing of the small-town atmosphere of their youth. Well, it’s alive and vibrant at Seawell’s.

Every morning a group of “locals” can be seen chewing the fat (the verbal fat, not the culinary kind) and enjoying coffee and morning treats. There are many locals and regulars here every day and if you want a taste of good food and small-town gathering, Seawell’s in Parkesburg is just the place.

The Proprietor, Carol Seawell is always ready with a small and friendly greeting that makes you feel instantly like you belong.

Our breakfast for 2 costs just $10 including tax and tip.

While you are there be sure to check out the memorabilia from the town including vintage copies of the Parkesburg Post from the time when Floyd Blume was the editor.

Parking along the street is hit or miss, but there’s a nice size lot next door.
