Company President Ed Herr and Marc Summers, host of The Food Network show “The Unwrapped,” are judges on the show as three chefs scramble to recreate iconic Herr’s potato chips. The chefs then have to use Cheddar and Sour Cream, Salt and Vinegar, and Barbecue chips all in a new dish.

Potato chip pasta, anyone? Check out the show, “Chip off the Old Block,” hosted by Joey Fatone, for a bit of escapist fun. Ed Herr is a gracious judge as the chefs try to fry up what Herr’s has perfected for the past 68 years, and you might enjoy trying to make the dishes they invent.

The show will air on The Food Network at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 17; at 8:30 p.m. Monday, May 26; at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 27; and at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 29.

As for the two new products, Herr’s has been making Old Bay Potato Chips for over three decades. That classic blend of heat and sweet and savory flavor known as Old Bay Seasoning is now covering Old Bay Popcorn and Old Bay Cheese Curls.

Jennifer Arrigo, public relations manager for Herr’s, tells us Old Bay was developed by Gustav Brunn in 1939 to spice up steamed crabs in Maryland. The name Old Bay was inspired from a passenger ship line that traveled across the Chesapeake Bay between Baltimore, Maryland and Norfolk, Va.

Herr’s popcorn is air-popped and topped with the savory spice. The Herr’s Old Bay Cheese Curls are oven baked with a combination of real cheese and genuine Old Bay seasoning. Both snacks are gluten-free and 0g Trans Fat.

A recognized leader in the snack food industry, Herr Foods Inc. employs over 1,500 people who make 340 delicious snack products that are available worldwide.
