Wawa
Wawa, a beloved convenience store and gas station chain, originated in Delaware County in 1902 as a dairy farm founded by George Wood.
The name “Wawa” comes from a Native American word meaning “wild goose,” reflected in its logo.
With over 1,000 locations along the East Coast and expansions into Florida and the Midwest, Wawa is known for its made-to-order food, particularly hoagies, breakfast sandwiches, and coffee.
Its strong community presence and popular marketing campaigns, like “Hoagiefest,” have made Wawa a cultural icon, fostering deep customer loyalty and affection.
