Purple and Gold Spirit Will Shine at West Chester University’s Homecoming and Family Weekend Oct. 3-5

Join West Chester University for Homecoming & Family Weekend and celebrate with alumni, students, families, and friends through concerts, comedy, block parties, tailgates, athletic events, and more.

West Chester University (WCU) welcomes the campus community, alumni, and friends for 2025 Homecoming and Family Weekend on Friday, Oct. 3, through Sunday, Oct. 5.

Alumni are welcome to register for events hosted by the WCU Foundation and Alumni Engagement. Those events begin on Friday, Oct. 3, with a Homecoming Kickoff Party from 5:30-8:30 PM at the WCU Alumni & Foundation Center (202 Carter Drive, West Chester).

Stay cozy at fire pits while enjoying live music by Brent Pelleschi ’98; local wine and Levante beer; a pasta and slider bar by Feastivities Events; and the Dia Doce Gourmet Cupcakes truck. All pre-registered guests are guaranteed an exclusive Homecoming 2025 pint glass (must be picked up at the event). The price is $15 until Sept. 29, or $20 at the door.

The WCU community is invited to the Borough of West Chester’s free Fall Gallery Walk on Friday, Oct. 3, from 4-8:00 PM. There are light refreshments at many of the sites, and parking meters on uptown streets will be free after 4:00 PM that evening.

Comedian Chris Distefano performs on Friday, Oct. 3, at 8:00 PM at Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall (700 South High Street) as part of WCU Live! A comedy powerhouse known for his relatable humor and magnetic stage presence, Distefano has established himself across stand-up comedy, podcasting, TV, and social media. His new hour-long special, It’s Just Unfortunate, is currently streaming on Hulu. Tickets are $32-$42 per person; find more info and tickets here.

Activities on Saturday, Oct. 4, begin with food, games, and activities at the Homecoming and Family Weekend Block Party from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM, along Shack’s Way outside the Sciences and Engineering Center and The Commons (SECC). Families can also have their portraits taken at the Ram Statue from 10 a.m. to noon.

The Pre-Game Tailgate in N Lot (north side of Sturzebecker Health Science Center, 855 South New Street) takes place from 12-3:00 PM. Try the new high-energy mechanical football ride for all ages and skill levels. Live music, games including Baggo and Giant Jenga, snacks, Levante beer, the Doris’s Donuts & Floats food truck (pay as you go), and the Whiskey Dogs mobile bar, owned by David Qawasmy ’16, with a special signature drink. For the youngest Ram fans, kid-friendly activities include a moon bounce, face painting, and a balloon twister.

The hot ticket is the Homecoming Football Game against East Stroudsburg on the Tomlinson-Fillippo Field at Farrell Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 2:00 PM. Get game tickets here. And home game days have been reimagined this fall with more activities for all ages, including the Purple Pit (presented by Saloon 151 and Station 142) for WCU students with live music, free food, plus pay-as-you-go food trucks, games, and free swag. Future Golden Rams will enjoy the Kids Zone with photos with Rammy, interactive games, face painting, treats, free WCU swag, and more. Both of these attractions open at noon.

Women’s soccer takes on Shepherd University on Saturday, October 4, at 12 p.m. on South Campus at Rockwell Field (855 S. New Street, West Chester).

Families are invited to dine with their students on Saturday at the Carrozza Dining Hall in The Commons from 5-7:00 PM. (Students should use meal plans/meal plan guest passes.) While you’re there, check out the Theatre & Dance Department’s free showcase of brief performances from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Learning Stairs in the SECC. The fun continues with Playlist Bingo in the SECC Ballrooms at 8:00 PM.

On Sunday, Oct. 5, visit the Campus Store on the lower level of Sykes Student Union for Family weekend discounts and free breakfast and coffee, courtesy of Wawa, from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM. There’s more free food and fellowship for students, families, and alumni at the Hillel Bagel Brunch on the second floor of Sykes from 10:30 AM-12:30 PM.

The WCU Wind Ensemble & Wind Symphony concludes Homecoming and Family Weekend with a free concert on Sunday from 3-4:30 PM in Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall in Philips Memorial Building (South High Street at University Avenue).
