Where to Go Wine Tasting in Chester County This Summer

As one of the most renowned wineries in the area, Chaddsford Winery draws visitors each year with its delicious selection of wines.

Now is one of the best times to explore Chester County’s wine country. Home to some of Pennsylvania’s most celebrated wineries, the county offers vineyard estates, family-owned tasting rooms, scenic outdoor spaces.  

No matter if you’re planning a date night or a weekend outing with friends, these wineries are a great way to enjoy the season and support local businesses. 

Make a stop at these locations, listed below alphabetically.

1723 Vineyards, Landenberg. Growing from a 3-acre planting in 2015 to more than 11 acres today, 1723 has a reputation for its setting and growing selection of premium wines, including Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Sauvignon Blanc. 

The Acadian Wine Company, Parkesburg. Known for its small-batch wines and relaxed atmosphere, The Acadian Wine Company has built a loyal following among local wine enthusiasts. The tasting room, called The Wine Bar, is open Thursday through Sunday for walk-in visits. 

Casa Carmen Farm & Winery, West Grove. Founded by brothers Enrique and Felipe Pallares, Casa Carmen brings a Spanish-influenced approach to the local wine scene. The winery is known for its dry wines, Spanish-style vermouths, and small bites & tapas menu crafted with area ingredients. 

Chaddsford Winery, Chadds Ford. A staple of Pennsylvania winemaking, the winery has welcomed visitors for decades. It’s known for seasonal events, tastings, and a variety of wines that include sparkling, dry reds, and whites. Since 1982, it has remained one of the Brandywine Valley’s most popular drinking spots. 

Harvest Ridge WineryToughkenamon. In a small village in New Garden Township, Harvest Ridge wines come from its family farm in nearby Marydel, Delaware, where grapes are grown across 12 acres of a 180-acre property. Wine tastings, a wine club, and a community atmosphere make it a good stop Thursday through Sunday. 

Paradocx Vineyard, Landenberg. Set on over 100 acres, this family-owned vineyard produces 15 varieties of wine and hosts events throughout the year. Visitors can also enjoy local beer, spirits, and a food menu. 

Penns Woods Winery, Chadds Ford. As one of the best-known wineries in the region, Penns Woods has a draw with its estate-grown wines, beautiful vineyard setting, and calendar of outdoor events. Weekday visits are walk-in, but reservations are recommended on weekends. 

R Five Wines, Downingtown. Downingtown native Kieran Robinson spent years training in the Finger Lakes, France’s Northern Rhône region, and Napa Valley. He worked alongside some of California’s top producers before returning to open R Five in 2021. The tasting room offers flights of California-sourced wines, small plates, and seasonal pizzas. 

Stargazers Vineyard, Coatesville. Take a drive into the winding roads of the countryside. Named after the nearby Stargazer’s Stone, this vineyard provides a selection of sweet whites, dry reds, and everything in between. You can enjoy the views of the Brandywine Creek and surrounding hills while listening to live music events. 

Stone Barn Cellars Winery, Spring City. The winery and tasting room are housed in a restored 150-year-old stone German bank barn near French Creek. Indoor and outdoor seating, live music events, and cheese platters are available. All their wines are made from Pennsylvania-grown grapes. 

Va La Vineyards, Avondale. This family farm works with distinctive French and Northern Italian grape varietals. It produces and bottles small batches of dry table wines and. 

Wayvine Winery, Nottingham. Wayvine combines estate-grown wines with a local following in both Nottingham and Kennett Square. 

Chester County’s winery scene spans hillsides in the north to the rolling fields of the Brandywine Valley in the south. There’s no shortage of memorable experiences waiting among the clinking glasses and flowing beverages this summer.
