Sports Facilities Companies of Florida has acquired Lambertville-based Spirit Golf Management, the operator of four golf courses in Bucks County, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The New Jersey golf management firm will continue operating under its existing brand. With this acquisition, the Clearwater-based Sports Facilities will get to enter the Philadelphia market and establish a new golf division.
Spirit Golf operates or offers consulting services to ten clubs across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. Its four Pennsylvania locations are Makefield Highlands Golf Club in Yardley, Five Ponds Golf Club in Warminster, Fairways Golf Club in Warrington, and Oxford Valley Golf Course in Fairless Hills.
In addition, the company runs the Spirit Golf Academy, which offers instruction and development programs for players of all ages and abilities. Its curriculum was developed by PGA of America Golf Professionals and will be integrated into Sports Facilities’ future golf programming.
The acquisition will not affect Spirit Golf’s 160 full-time and seasonal employees, who will now become part of the roughly 5,000-person staff at Sports Facilities. Meanwhile, founder and President Mike Attara will move into a senior vice president role there and lead the new golf division.
