Local rescue Lucky Dawg Animal Rescue is currently caring for two litters of kittens after they were found living inside Lowe’s Home Improvement in Downingtown, writes Caroline Goggin for 6abc.
The seven kittens were found living in boxes on the top shelf of the store’s garden center last Saturday. Employees first discovered the kittens when pulling down a pallet from the shelf.
A volunteer called Lucky Dawg’s Lisa Newton to retrieve the kittens, which came from two different litters. They are estimated to be just three to four weeks old.
The team used a forklift to safely carry the kittens to the floor. Newton brought a carrier to bring them to her home, where she continues to prepare them for adoption.
Newton shared that the two litters come from two separate mothers. Both are feral cats who frequented the Downingtown Lowes, so much so that they gave birth in the store’s empty boxes.
Lucky Dawg Animal Rescue has located the first litter’s mother and is currently seeking the second.
The kittens’ unique story earned them special names: Forklift, Herb, Pallet, Planter, Grass Seed, Lowe, and Rose. Regarding their upcoming adoption timeline, Newton shared that the rescued kittens should be available for adoption in about a month.
