Two Brandywine Valley businesses are working hard to provide true top-of-the-line products across a range of industries, writes Peter Murphy for The Hunt.
For Jake Moore of West Grove‘s Moore Meats, this means cultivating high-quality beef from a herd of carefully maintained cows.
Upon joining his father’s dairy business, which had previously housed several black Wagyu cattle, Moore researched how to properly breed the cows for superior meat. By crossbreeding Japanese and domestic breeds, Moore Meats offers small-batch beef with top-notch flavor and texture.
Customers throughout Chester County and beyond have become loyal followers. Moore even developed a custom product with specific nutritional qualities currently used by the Philadelphia Flyers‘ performance chef.
Moore Meats offers its wholesale products through the region’s few USDA-certified butchers. With conscious farming techniques and dedicated retail practices, the business always delivers on quality despite the beef industry’s many hurdles.
In nearby Kennett Square, Braeloch Brewing navigates the craft beer industry with the same dedication.
The brewery offers some of the region’s top brews. In order to do so, management works carefully to meet numerous state and federal regulations.
The brewery must account for all sales and leftovers with a monthly malt beverages tax. Additionally, quarterly filings with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau include submitting all beer labels for approval.
Despite the tedious administrative tasks, like those at Moore Meats, the Braeloch Brewing team jumps through all the necessary hoops to continually uphold Chester County’s standout food and beverage scene.
