Downingtown’s Newest Brewery Is Worth the Wait

Following a years-long development process, the Dublin Brewing Company team is planning to open the brewery as an event space this month.

Dublin Brewing Company, Downingtown’s newest beer destination, is planning an April debut after a lengthy development process, writes John Vaccarelli for Breweries in Pa.

Owner Brendan Fitzgerald has spent years securing the necessary licensing and inspections for the brewery to formally open. After homebrewing for decades, Fitzgerald’s grand plan for the brewery includes a taproom, brewhouse, and kitchen, complete with food and a wide range of craft beer.

While all major construction has been completed, Fitzgerald is still waiting on state licensing and a Department of Agriculture inspection. He shared that the official status of the brewery “changes daily,” as governmental clearances can take a long time to finalize.

While several final adjustments remain, the space is already able to serve as an event venue. Fitzgerald, who is originally from Dublin, recently hosted a private event and a St. Patrick’s Day open house, both of which saw a successful turnout.

In further developing Dublin Brewing Company’s beer menu, Fitzgerald has been re-running recipes to finalize each beer. He plans to have several flagship beers, including an Irish Dry Stout and a Pale Ale, which have already received positive reviews.

Managing recipe-testing, construction, and the tedious licensing process all while working full-time as a contractor, Fitzgerald has poured all of his energy into building his dream space. The hard work is certain to pay off when the brewery officially opens its doors soon.
