Coming soon to Downingtown, Dublin Brewing Company is the years-long dream of Brendan FitzGerald that is finally coming to life, writes Brooke Schultz for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The idea came from FitzGerald’s deep-seated interest in brewing, which started as boy growing up in Ireland, sampling home brews from his neighbor. As a teen, he moved to the United States but later brought back a cider kit when he visited his home country—a decision that cemented his path to the industry.
For the past several years, FitzGerald has been collecting equipment, renovating the pub himself, and turning his hobby into a business model. Now, Dublin Brewing Company is set to open in May at 137 Wallace Ave.
The menu will offer a variety of beverages and bar food, with a full-time kitchen being eyed for the future. FitzGerald’s goal is to bring the Irish pub experience to the community, from lively music to olden decor that will transport guests to Irish streets.
Drinks include his Irish dry stout (Guinness-like), Irish red ale, IPAs, a pale ale, and a rotating lineup of more brews. Pennsylvania wine and spirits will also be offered.
“I just want people to be able to come in, have some fun and just feel the authenticity of it,” he said. “It’s a real experience I’m trying to give people, and I hope they give me the opportunity to give them that.”
