Owner Hopes to Reopen Crozer-Chester Medical Center in 3 Years

Chariot Equities is looking for an operator to run Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, with plans to reopen in three years.

Chariot Equities, the new owners of the closed Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, is looking at three-years to reopen, writes Kenny Cooper for WHYY.

“We want a right-sized health operator there,” said Brittany Crampsie, a spokesperson for Chariot Equities.  “We want the facilities to be modern, accessible, and provide the kind of health care in the style that it needs to be delivered right now.”

The owner hopes to identify an operator within six months, then work with them to ensure the property meets their needs and the community’s.

Chariot Equities is holding a town meeting to update the community on April 14 at 6 PM at Widener University’s Lathem Hall in Chester.

The hospital and its 64-acre campus have been untouched since Crozer Health closed the facility in May 2025.

The closing triggered a health desert in Chester and the surrounding communities in the southern end of Delaware County.

Crozer-Chester’s closing is shifting Chester area residents to places like Main Line Health.  In 2024, the Chester ZIP Code ranked No. 16 for emergency room visits at Main Line Health facilities. In 2025, it jumped to No. 1. It was No. 2 in admissions in 2025, said Chester Mayor Stefan Roots.
