March is Women’s History Month, which means its time celebrate every woman in your life. Women help keep the world going round with their leadership, love, and ability to stand on business — or start a business.
There are dozens of women-owned businesses in the Philadelphia region, all ranging in different industries where they have risen to leave their marks. Creating your own business is never easy, especially as a small business, which is why highlighting female contributions to society benefits both customers and owners hoping to have an impact.
Here are just a few of Chester County’s woman-run businesses.
Bella Vita Coffee & Cream — Exton. Founded by Patrice Churnetski, Bella Vita means “beautiful life” in Italian, something she aims to create through every cup and cone sold. A white and blue color palette contributes to the welcoming atmosphere of the shop where you can relax and enjoy “the pleasures of coffee, ice cream, and delicious baked goods.” Per the website, Churnetski left the corporate world for coffee and never looked back.
Elite Hair Designs — Paoli. Owned by locals Mimma Marrollo and Tricia Bertolami, this hair salon has been on the Main Line for over 30 years, creating stunning styles and confidence-boosting appearances for clients. No matter if you need a root touch-up or assistance transforming a hair cut disaster, these ladies have the skills to help you look and feel your best every time you leave the chair.
Pine + Quill — West Chester. Owner Dianna, who sometimes has a little help from her daughter at the shop, runs a home decor and gift establishment that’s open seven days a week. She worked in environmental science for years before taking the small business leap. Explore vintage items, furniture, jewelry, art, and more at Pine + Quill, and check out their rotating events and pop-ups.
Precision Painting Pros — Honey Brook. Founded in 2016 by Sara McCulley, Precision Painting was once a one-woman show. McCulley’s grandfather and father were painters, and she started painting with her brother’s flooring company before starting her own to keep the tradition going. Now 10 years later, the company has a full crew and the skills to take on any job size. McCulley enjoys the process of helping a client’s dream come true by making their house into a home.
Never stop celebrating and recognizing the achievements of your loved ones, and be sure to support these woman-owned small business throughout March (and beyond)!
