On Dec.11, Partners in Outreach was honored to be selected as one of the charities featured in the Philadelphia Flyers Alumni Association’s 12 Days of Giving, an annual tradition that showcases the Alumni’s commitment to community support throughout the holiday season.
Representatives from both organizations gathered for a special presentation, including Flyers legends Brad Marsh and Joe Watson, alongside members of the Partners in Outreach leadership team — Maryanne Parsons, Noreen Vigilante, Katelyn Lloyd, Lisa Lutza, Barb Quinn, Tim Ernst, and Mike Horwitz. In a moment of genuine generosity and celebration, the Flyers Alumni Association presented Partners in Outreach with a $5,000 check to support its mission.
“We were surprised and so grateful,” said a Partners in Outreach spokesperson, reflecting on the heartfelt presentation.
The funds are earmarked to benefit the PIO’s suite of programs that serve children in Chester County and surrounding communities, with a special emphasis on literacy, academic readiness, and year-round enrichment.
Partners in Outreach’s mission is rooted in removing barriers that can hold children backwhether those are gaps in early literacy, access to books, or opportunities for meaningful learning experiences through tutoring and reading partnerships. With the support of the Flyers Alumni, the organization will be able to expand its impact across all five of its signature programs, including summer camp access, classroom reading efforts, tutoring, and Easter baskets and outfits.
The Flyers Alumni Association’s 12 Days of Giving initiative began more than five years ago as a way to bring sustained holiday support to a diverse group of nonprofits, families, and community partners. Each day of the campaign highlights a different organization or cause chosen to receive financial backing or volunteer support from the Alumni, reflecting a longstanding tradition of giving back to the Delaware Valley and beyond.
For Partners in Outreach, being included in this tradition was both humbling and energizing: a reminder of the power of community partnerships and the joy of seeing generosity put into action to benefit children and families.
