On Friday, Oct. 13, comedian Tom Cotter will be at the People’s Light. Cotter, the runner-up on America’s Got Talent, will be performing to benefit Partners In Outreach at their annual Laughs 4 Literacy event.

Dave Spadaro, an Eagles insider, and Emmy award winner, will host the evening. Enjoy the new venue and catch up with friends at the cocktail hour before taking your seat for a night of comedy.

Laughs 4 Literacy is the main “fun-raiser” for Partners in Outreach and funds their programs throughout the year. This volunteer-run organization was originally formed in 2010 by a group of moms wanting to make a difference for the children of their community.

PIO began with the collection and distribution of 200 gently used Easter Outfits. In 2023, they distributed 1,600 brand-new Easter outfits and baskets filled with practical items like a new book, socks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and school supplies. Over 1,800 summer camp packs were handed out to summer camps and swim lessons, receiving subsidies. The drawstring bags included new swimsuits, towels, flip-flops, and a water bottle.

The 100 percent volunteer-run organization has dedicated itself to closing the literacy gap in Chester County. Their REAL program has tutored 73 individual students and two classrooms of 25. They have handed out over 4,000 books and excite young learners through their Classroom Reading Partners. The programs rely on the success of Laughs 4 Literacy and the generosity of the community it serves.
