West Pharmaceutical Services has expanded its footprint in the Asia Pacific region by adding a new 35,000-square-foot sales office in Korea, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The new office is the result of West’s purchase of GIS Korea and will operate as West Pharmaceutical Services Korea. Before the purchase, GIS Korea, the medical device and healthcare products distributor, was West’s distributor for the Korean market.

The Exton-based manufacturer of pharmaceutical packaging and delivery systems said a staff of 15 people will now work out of the new Korean office.

“We are excited to join West and to be a part of a global team that is working to improve patient lives,” said Kwon Dong-Oh, managing director for West Korea and former managing director for GIS Korea.

West, which also opened a new digital technology center in India last month, now has 7,600 employees spread across the globe. The company’s sales for 2018 were $1.7 billion, which generated a total net income of $206.9 million.
