The following positions are available:
School-Based Counselor
The School-based Counselor/ Social Worker is a 10-month/43-week position in the Chester-Upland School District in Chester City.
The Counselor/Social Worker provides early intervention therapy and counseling services, case management and mental health support services at the school and in the homes of at-risk students, consultation services to school personnel, liaison support to community agencies, and training programs for school and community populations.
Duties & Responsibilities
SERVICES TO STUDENTS:
• Support students experiencing truancy by developing and implementing appropriate interventions and conducting home visits as needed.
• Provide case management for students and families requiring multiple resources.
• Provide home-based services to the families of students who have experienced or are at risk of experiencing trauma, including those who are low-income, homeless, involved in the child welfare system, or involved in the juvenile justice system.
SERVICES TO SCHOOL PERSONNEL:
• Provide staff with essential information to better understand factors (cultural, societal, economic, familial, health, etc.) affecting a student’s performance and behavior.
• Provide direct support and interventions to students exhibiting challenging behaviors.
-Employ evidence-based strategies and techniques to de-escalate behavioral incidents.
-Offer counseling and coaching to help students understand and manage their emotions and behaviors.
• Develop proactive strategies to prevent behavioral issues, including classroom accommodations and modifications when necessary.
• Respond to crisis situations while working closely with school security and counseling teams.
SERVICES TO DISTRICTS:
• Identifying and reporting child abuse and neglect.
• Providing case management for students and families requiring multiple resources.
SERVICES TO PARENTS/FAMILIES:
• Work with parents to facilitate their support in their children’s school adjustment.
• Alleviate family stress to enable the child to function more effectively in school & community.
• Assist parents in accessing and utilizing school and community resources.
• Work with those problems in a child’s living situation that affect the child’s adjustment in school (home, school, and community).
SCHOOL-COMMUNITY LIAISON:
• Obtain and coordinate community resources to meet students’ needs.
• Provide health services and intervention strategies by coordinating the services provided by eligible applicants and coordinated care organizations, public health entities, nonprofit youth service providers, and community-based organizations.
• Foster and promote communication between the school entity, community, and law enforcement.
• Increase access to quality trauma-informed support services and behavioral health care by linking the community with local trauma support and behavioral health systems.
• Help school districts receive adequate support from social and mental health agencies.
• Mobilize family, school, and community resources to enable the child to learn as effectively as possible in his or her educational program.

Education & Experience:
• Master’s degree required in counseling, social work, or related field.

Board-Certified Behavior Analyst
Norristown Area School District is seeking a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst. The position includes a $3,000 sign-on bonus.
Skills & Knowledge:
• Successful completion of internship and/or formal training in the analysis of behavior and instructional strategies related to working with clients who have pervasive developmental disorders and related disorders, their parents, and other agencies working with clients.
• Ability to demonstrate competence in behavior management skills, instructional skills, oral and written Communication, organizational, and interpersonal relations skills.
• Ability to work with a variety of clients in regard to age, functionality, and with minimal direction.
• Assist in the development, facilitation, and follow-up training in Applied Behavior Analysis, using both Discrete-trial training and natural-environment training models of teaching.
• Facilitate and assist in the development and identification of resources and support information for clients and their families.
• Provide model teaching and other direct instructional supports, including but not limited to practicum.
• Assist in the development and implementation of assessment tools, to conduct functional assessments and analyses when appropriate.
• Develop appropriate behavior strategies to teach appropriate behavior and reduce maladaptive behaviors.
Education and Experience:
• Master’s degree in human services or special education

Community Counselor, Philly House
The Counselor will provide services for individual and group counseling services for the Philly House in Philadelphia, with an emphasis on trauma-informed care and intervention on drug and alcohol issues.
Counselors must be able and willing to accept a variety of assignments and integrate their work with other TLC programs and community services.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
• Provide individual, family, and group counseling services in the areas identified in the Job Summary.
• Meet the specific requirements for TLC counseling positions and follow policies and procedures for those positions.
• Advocate for individuals and family members with health care professionals, legal personnel, service agencies, county departments, and others who are in a position to assist the persons receiving our services.
• Monitor the progress of each client through the maintenance of appropriate case records and statistics on the service provided.
• Utilize the Seeking Safety curriculum.
• Provide outreach and facilitate inter-organizational cooperation with community agencies, county services, healthcare professionals, and community groups.
• Attend education/training on topics related to counseling duties.
• Oversee and be responsible for the gathering and reporting of data as required by contracts, grants, or certifying bodies.
Skills:
Knowledge of multiple therapeutic modalities such as CBT, motivational interviewing, trauma expertise, substance abuse intervention expertise, and excellent collaboration skills.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a men’s shelter.

Hours of Work:
This position requires evening work and the sudden need for crisis intervention.
Travel:
Travel is primarily local. Use of a reliable car is necessary for travel to service sites.
Education and Experience:
• Master’s in Human Services, Counseling, or Social Work field preferred.
• LSW (Licensed Social Worker) is preferred.
• A minimum of two years related experience, including knowledge of work with trauma and counseling with persons at high risk for drug and alcohol abuse.
