Malvern Teen Donates Hundreds of Bikes with Annual Holiday Drive

With his nonprofit Dom Fixes Bikes, local teen Dom Pecora donates hundreds of bikes throughout the community each holiday season.

Local teen Dom Pecora is making a difference this holiday season with his annual holiday bike drive, writes Lily Henderson for Main Line Today.

Now a junior at Conestoga High School, Pecora founded the nonprofit Dom Fixes Bikes to get more local kids and adults on bikes. Since 2020, the business has completed repairs and donated countless bikes, including hundreds throughout the holidays, thanks to the annual drive.

Each year, the team purchases brand new bikes and helmets to donate throughout the community. Many purchases are subsidized by donors and community partners, including Nemours Children’s Hospital.

Anyone can apply for a bike either for themselves or a friend through the nonprofit’s website. A team of movers and delivery drivers then work as “Santas” to anonymously deliver the bikes to their recipients.

So far this year, the team has donated 106 bikes throughout Norristown, Oxford, and Havertown. Another 200 bikes will be distributed on Dec. 22.

A third-generation renter of Eadeh Enterprises, Dom Pecora comes from a long line of entrepreneurs. Pecora’s mother also owns Whitford at Malvern Flowers, and his grandfather operated the Berwyn Arcade.

While the team has already led a remarkable impact this year, with an increasing goal each year, Pecora is prepared to accomplish even more in the future. About the thank-you notes and gratitude the team receives from bike recipients receive each year, Pecora said, “That’s always a good push to get more bikes next year.”
