West Chester Honors Visionary Real Estate Developer With New Street Name

The West Chester borough recently honored longtime real estate developer Stan Zukin with the new “Zukin Way" on North Walnut Street.

The West Chester borough recently honored visionary real estate developer Stan Zukin with a new street name downtown, writes Bill Rettew for The Daily Local News.

The borough named the 100 block of North Walnut Street “Zukin Way” in honor of Zukin’s decades spent transforming downtown West Chester through his company Zukin Realty. The stretch historically housed Thatcher’s Pharmacy, one of his first real estate projects in town.

In the following decades, Zukin led the family business to develop downtown West Chester while maintaining the borough’s historic charm. Now, the company boasts roughly sixty-five buildings, including student, residential, and commercial properties.

Borough councilman Bernie Flynn led the charge to honor Zukin with a street name. The council then approved the idea to formally honor him for his leadership.

The street sign unveiling took place last Thursday with 125 community members attending. The new “Zukin Way” now houses Hotel Indigo, another project that symbolizes decades of collaboration and partnership.

Son Scott Zukin honored Stan’s career and philosophy during a commemorative speech. About his father, he said, “Stan Zukin was a dreamer and a visionary. He got things done.”
